They better have fixed that crummy inventory
Please don't tell me how you've gotten used to it. The inventory is not something you should have to "get used to". Next to targeting and skill usage, it's probably the 3rd most popular activity you'll engage in with your player. That said, it should be quick and painless. Neither of those words describe the current system.
The inventory has gone from one key (i) to now having to press 4 keys.
Crazy Dev: "I know.....instead of one keystroke that opens up your whole inventory, we divide it up into 4 cluttersome windows with 4 keystrokes!"
So there goes "quick". As to "painless", the current system only caters to those ultra organizers and tedious micromanagers. Even if you came up with a good organizational schema for your items, it gets destroyed every time something new gets added. Please don't tell me how you organized your inventory, "I put my smiting rod in my sack, I'm a big boy!" The inventory becomes a pain everytime you pick up something new and have to decide where it goes. Bye bye "painless".
There have been suggestions galore as to how to fix this but ANet still hasn't addressed it. Anything is better than what's out there now. I'm even for reduced space if they'll just bring back the old way. Or combine what worked with the old way (one keystroke, 1 inventory) with some new Tetris-style window where you can detach different parts off of your main inventory block.
Think practical, think painless, think speed. Inventory access is a very common activity......it is dragging down the game. Alphas, please yell at someone there if it hasn't been changed this week.

I would have to agree. It is not as simple as it was before. Was kind of causing me a headache in between doing missions.

You could always bind all 4 bags to 1 key. I dont mind the new inventory system. It is actually easier to organize things now then before not that i do it anyway.

if people overwhelmingly hated the new split inventory it would be changed
no matter what they do there will be some people who will hate it
if a relatively few people have complained we will probably see little change between now and retail

I'd challenge you to ask in-game "Does anyone hate the inventory" and see what kind of response you get. No one likes it......it is tolerated. There's not a huge upcry because they make a few massive changes every BWE and people forget about the little things. Those little things are going to become big things when people realize how much time they're spending on inventory management.

I get the feeling that they have already changed the inventory again. But probably not the way we think.

Actually, I like it. I just wish they'd give all the bags to you at start like they did in January. I am a compulsive organizer and the different bags are great for me. The problem this past weekend was that they started you out with only the backpack, and made you buy more bags as you progressed. They are also WAY overpriced when you do find them. What are these bags, Gucci? Although, I do see how someone who is not as into organization would find them annoying.

Yeah, I saw it was available from one of the collectors, but completely forgot about it. Kept trying to find the collector, but for some reason I could never find him again. Do you remember where he was?

The use of bags as money sinks kind of annoys me but it's really now that bad...
... it would be nice if it was customizable. Sometimes you need a huge inventory for basic things and sometimes you need the small ones so you can see past your interface and kill stuff...

Thanks for helping, Chadatog. I'm sure a lot of people appreciate this tip.

Hrmmm ... strangely enough, I'm pretty certain that the F9 option was available in the Feb beta as well. And was posted in response to a very similar thread to this one... I know that at least one concern that players had about the inventory system *has* been addressed - selling equipment to an outfitter is now much easier ... and, for me personally, the multi-bag system actually works far better than a single bag system would.
Yes, I know I'm probably going to be slaughtered by the original poster for this ... but it's simple. If I pick up something I may not want to sell at a later date, I put it in one of the three extra bag slots immediately (doesn't take long). If I don't care about the item, it sits in the main bag where the game put it. Yes, there could possibly be some improvements. But by golly, you're witness to a system that is obviously still under refinement. Posting suggestions is fine, but repetitively attacking the devs about it is perhaps going a little over the top, don't you think?
The GW bag system is already better than another bag system I can think of in another game I've been playing...

Alex! You've been playing another game? Boy oh boy, you're going to catch it for that!
I do agree, the bag system is very helpful for me, too. And the sales interface? I had to blink to make sure I was seeing it as presented. No more dragging and dropping and fiddling around. Just a nice tidy scroll bar, a click or three, and you're that much richer.

I've never really understood the fuss over the bag system. I like being able to partition my inventory, and I think it's fun (I already know I'm going to get bashed for advocating "grind" here) to upgrade my inventory space over time. As Alex said, it's already better than the bag system for a certain other game. Selling things was the only major issue I had with it, and that's been adressed. The only other thing I'd suggest would be adding an option in the regular game menu (where inventory, friends, etc. reside) that does the same thing F9 does.
